Priyanka and Karan met on Orkut. Yeah really! And their love story has all the twists and turns of a typical Bollywood movie [ maybe someone should make a short film! ]. They dated, then broke up and then started dating again and now, to the delight of their friends, they are finally, ENGAGED! The ceremony took place at the Viceregal, The Claridges Hotel, New Delhi on 29th October 2011. It was a small get together with family and friends and the atmosphere was fun, with a lining of “Hell yeah they’re engaged!”

 

 

 

 

The event was organized by Gurmeet of Akriti Events. There was a DJ on the premises and lots of dancing. The Black Label was definitely a crowd-pleaser!

 

 

 

 

Both Karan and Priyanka have loads of common friends and there was a lot of tomfoolery going around. Especially after multiple shots were downed, the atmosphere changed from “formal engagement ceremony” to “let’s rock this!” After the ceremony, I got a chance to sneak the couple out to the hotel corridors for a bit of couple-time. I wanted more, but I’m hoping the “props” I had in my car can be used for a special couple shoot before their wedding!

 
 

 

 

This is the first time I have shot an engagement ceremony that was not an immediate part of the wedding ceremony. All other weddings that I have photographed, so far, have had the engagement / ring ceremony as part of the main wedding-day ceremonies. It was a nice change to be able to photograph an event shorter in duration – the vibe and feel were very different.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Since both Karan and Priyanka are active on Twitter, the update to her network was a no-brainer! Here’s wishing them a happy engaged year ahead before they get busy with the wedding plans!
